Brand kit

The wordmark, the app icon, colors, type, icons and the seal, with the few rules that keep them honest. Free to use when writing about Dinged.

Near-black, with color only where it means something

Amber marks the one primary action on a screen, and the logo field. It is never a status. Each status color means one thing, and none is used as decoration.

Values are the :root tokens in styles.css. Contrast is each color against the background, #0E1013, by the WCAG 2 formula; 4.5 is the minimum for body text. Ink on amber is #17120A against #FFC233. Surfaces, hairlines and coverage paint are fills, so they have no text ratio. Anything not live yet gets a hollow ring in Ink 3, never amber or green.

Fifteen icons, each with one job

Rounded, single color, one weight. A status icon always comes with its color and its word, never color alone.

The seal means it checks out

It marks sealed and verified states, in the app and on the verify page. Use it only for something that is actually sealed. Each verify result has one mark and one banner.

  • Verified

Every signature, fingerprint and root matches, and an independent RFC 3161 timestamp covers the root. Independent timestamps are coming next.

  • Verified, device time only

Everything matches, but the time comes from the phone’s clock, backed by our server’s signed receipt. Every record shows this until independent timestamps launch.

  • Does not match

A file, the root or a signature fails. The failing item is named, and no seal is shown.

Cheeky on the site, formal in the record

The app and this site can be cheeky. The Condition Record is formal, because a landlord, a rental desk or a judge reads it. Say what changed; people decide what it means.

WhereSayNot
Findings“1 new · 1 already there · 1 not damage”“Your landlord is lying about this scratch.”
Sizes“14 mm (0.55 in)”“A tiny scratch, about half an inch.”
In the recordTitle “Condition Record,” with a small “Generated by Dinged” line.“Gotcha! Here’s your proof!!” No jokes, no emoji, no exclamation marks.
Outside“Don’t get dinged.” Cheek belongs in the app, onboarding and marketing. The same joke in the report packet, which a judge may read.

Haptics

The app talks through touch too. Four patterns, each with one meaning.

Light tick
A frame captured
Double tap
A station complete
Rising pulses
Getting closer to the ghost pose
Success pattern
